Condominium Kitchen Update
Project elements/challenges:
- Counter and storage space was very limited and inconvenient placed
- Desire to create a new kitchen with more storage and counter space, in an area that is limited to existing space
- Position of appliances is largely set because of the mechanical chase location
- Inconvenient flow of space for cooking, entertaining and interacting
- Select finishes that coordinate with all of the other public areas of the condo
- Update space to prevent the cook from being cut off from others
Solutions:
- Tripled storage and counter space
- Designed an island that provides storage and counter space in better proximity to the rest of the kitchen, and allows for increased flow throughout the space
- Created a window/pass-thru between the kitchen and other living areas for interaction and added storage space to the living area side of the window
- Maintained wall color from other living areas thru kitchen and coordinated other finishes to continue the soft color scheme including cream colored cabinets that won’t fight with or overwhelm other furnishings in the condo
